General Information
SRACS offers an enrollment window for new students in November each year. If necessary, another enrollment period is added in February. In addition, the charter school hosts a parent information event in the fall to share information about our school to prospective new families.
All enrollment applications are subject to space availablity. For grade levels with no openings, applicants will be placed on a wait list in the order that they are received.
Interested wait list applicants from the previous year who were not enrolled as a 5th grader (remained on the wait list after school began) need to re-appply as a 6th grader for the next year.
A Former SRACS student published her memoir on changing schools/attending SRACS. Click here to view her article found in the summer 2009 Gifted Communicator publication.

Priority Levels
Applications with Openings:
Spaces are filled according to priority levels.
- 1st priority will be given to students residing in the most immediate adjacent streets to the RVMS/SRACS school site. These streets include the perimeter boundaries of Middle Rincon Road, Badger Road, Estes Drive, and Sunshine Avenue.
- 2nd priority will be given to siblings of currently enrolled students at SRACS and students with a sibling who has attended SRACS that currently attends RVMS or MCHS. A sibling is defined as a brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, step-brother, or step-sister.
- 3rd priority will be given to students within the attendance area for Rincon Valley Middle School, but not the most immediately adjacent neighborhoods of the RVMS/SRACS campus.
- 4th priority will be given to remaining students residing within the Santa Rosa High School District.
- Out-of-district applicants will be in the last priority level.
Applications without Openings:
A lottery system will apply when the number of applicants exceed the available spaces at the SRACS. Lottery Guidelines will be applied as follows:
- A lottery is drawn for that particular priority level when there are less spaces available than number of applicants for that priority level. For example, if there are 5 spaces available and 10 applicants, 5 names drawn will be accepted in the charter school and the other 5 names will be placed on a wait list in the order drawn.
- Siblings applying at the same time receive separate lottery numbers.
- Applications received after the enrollment window will be added to the bottom of the wait list in the order received.
This lottery system will be held in December. All applicants will be notified of their enrollment status by mail during the month of December.
Committment letters for ALL new students will be mailed in the spring. |
